Bus lane and bridge
Breda
The bus lane and bridge in Nieuw Wolfslaar constitute a virtually two-dimensional architecture that scarcely rises above the surrounding landscape. The curve of the three-hundred-metre-long bus lane through the Bavelse Leij landscape park is a segment of a circle and is made up of an asphalted roadway and a footpath of shell asphalt. The bridge over the Bavelse Leij stream is slightly off-centre, wedged between gabions at one end and at the other end a Cor-Ten steel element embedded in the slope. The only vertical accents in this landscape intervention are the architect- designed cylindrical lighting poles on the concrete strip between bus lane and footpath.
