havermans : hielkema is an office for architecture, urban development and living environment located in Breda. We create strategically considered buildings and areas in the private and public domain.

Havermans started : hielkema in 1993. Under the leadership of Lode Havermans and Abe Hielkema, the office grew into a team of architects, urban planners, function, function, and function.

With intellectual expertise and a pragmatic mindset, we look for architectural solutions that fit today's challenges. Each design is based on research rooted in the environment and designed with tactile combinations of materials. They are layered designs that enhance the essence of a place.

Unspectacular simplicity. We do not search for the boundaries of architecture, but for its core.

Meet the team

We believe in a strong connection between site specific and social circumstances, program, use and costs. By working closely with clients, governments and involved advisors, we convert the circumstances and conditions into the driving force behind a design. As in project x and project x. During the realization process, we are the link between architecture, design and client.

We work efficiently and clearly with BIM. In addition to digital techniques, we work with models as a means of research and presentation. The rhythm and function of a design come to life in a physical, spatial model. Moreover, it gives a good impression of the appearance and the integration into the environment.

With attention to detail and manufacturability, we realize special urban and architectural projects. With the materials we use, such as stone, glass, concrete, wood and metals, we not only control the manufacturing process, but we also pay attention to the wear and tear of materials.

Havermans: hielkema through the eyes of René de Wit
From the lecture HHA in images of 01.01..2022

‘In their buildings, lines of floors become part of a structure that makes endlessly varied connections clear and connections. Sometimes they are recognizable as a grid, at other times they border sharply cut surfaces. After that they are part of the structure again in a facade surface in which no stone is the same.'

havermans : hielkema through the eyes of Hans Ibelings:

For havermans: hielkema undeniably applies that a building is more than a design. The drawing only shows an abstract indication of what can be achieved afterwards with great precision and based on current architectural knowledge.'
